What is Slack?

Slack is a digital collaboration hub that can replace email so that people can connect seamlessly. Think of it as 'enhanced and improved instant messaging and file sharing.'

Why Slack?

Utilizing the collective knowledge, experience, and networks of our members is of immense value. ATD VOS has secured a digital platform for community and connection, facilitating effortless mutual learning. As an additional benefit, Slack is a widely adopted collaboration tool in various organizations. Becoming a part of our community will provide you with an opportunity to become comfortable with the app and learn more.

What will I find in the Slack community #channels?

In addition to engaging in conversation with other ATD VOS Members, you'll see opportunities like:

  • Network and meet new connections

  • Collaborate and ideate with other L&D professionals

  • Tip, Question and/or Resource of the Week

  • Gather feedback on presentations, frameworks, documents, etc
  • Latest news on VOS programming

  • Job openings and who to connect with for the inside scoop

  • Member spotlights – Stories of Success!

  • Updates and reminders on other benefits of membership

  • Virtual “meet ups” that give you fun face time with other members

We are dedicated to fostering a supportive, diverse, and inclusive community where all members can freely express their ideas, collaborate, and contribute to our shared mission. As part of our unwavering commitment to creating a positive and respectful environment, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of harassment, discrimination, or unprofessional behavior within our community Slack group.

Our Guiding Principles

  1. Respect and Dignity: We believe in treating every individual with respect and dignity, regardless of their race, ethnicity, nationality, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, or any other characteristic. Discrimination, derogatory language, or offensive remarks are strictly prohibited.

  2. Safe Space: Our Slack group is meant to be a safe space for all members, where they can share their thoughts, opinions, and experiences without fear of ridicule, judgment, or harassment. We encourage open dialogue and constructive discussions.

  3. No Tolerance for Harassment: Harassment of any kind, including but not limited to verbal, written, or visual forms, will not be tolerated. This includes unwanted advances, stalking, intimidation, or any behavior that creates an uncomfortable or hostile environment for others.

  4. Professionalism: We expect all members to conduct themselves professionally in all interactions within the Slack group. Disruptive or offensive behavior, personal attacks, and aggressive language are not acceptable. Direct selling of any kind (products or services) is not acceptable.

  5. Reporting Mechanism: We encourage all members to report any incidents of harassment, discrimination, or unprofessional behavior they encounter within our Slack community. Reports can be made to the community moderators or organization leaders, who will take the necessary actions to address the issue promptly and confidentially.

Consequences for Violations

We take any breach of our zero-tolerance policy seriously and will take appropriate action against any individual found to be in violation. Depending on the severity and frequency of the offense, consequences may range from a warning, temporary suspension from the Slack group, to a permanent ban.

Building a Supportive Community Together

Creating an inclusive and respectful community is a collective responsibility. As members of ATD Valley of the Sun, we all have a role to play in upholding these principles and ensuring that our Slack group remains a safe and welcoming space for everyone.

Let us  foster a culture of kindness, empathy, and understanding, where every member feels valued and empowered to contribute to our shared goal of learning together. Together, we can make a positive impact and further our mission while respecting the dignity and rights of all individuals.
